ATA Ventures Completes $196 Million Second Fund,
ATA Ventures II, L.P.

Firm to Focus on Early Stage Investment Opportunities in Information Technologies

Redwood City, Calif., June 7, 2006 — ATA Ventures, a Redwood City venture capital firm focusing on early-stage private equity investments, today announced that it has formed ATA Ventures II, L.P., a new equity fund capitalized with $196 million. With the creation of the fund, ATA Ventures continues to seek early stage investments in Information Technology (IT) companies that develop unique application solutions for enterprise, consumer, and industrial markets.  The new fund brings the total capital under management by the firm to $350M.

ATA Ventures II, L.P. will be managed by three investment professionals: Michio Fujimura, Hatch Graham, and T. Peter Thomas. Limited Partners investing in ATA Ventures II, L.P. include a variety of well-recognized foundations, endowments, pension funds, and fund of fund organizations. “ATA’s investment process consistently results in a solid stake in companies that appear to have desirable return potential,” stated Carol Womack, Assistant Treasurer of Vanderbilt University’s Office of Investments.

“The core value within ATA Ventures is the teamwork embraced within the investment process,” remarked Hatch Graham, Managing Director and co-founder. Graham added, “With the creation of our second fund, the firm will begin to expand its base of investment professionals, carefully maintaining a team-oriented disposition.“ As in its first fund, the firm set an initial target of $150M for ATA Ventures II, L.P., as well as setting a maximum fund limit of $200M. Participation within the fund was offered exclusively to investors also participating in the firm’s first fund, ATA Ventures I, L.P.

In its charter fund, ATA Ventures led over 15 investments ranging from industry leading private companies, such as Actelis Networks and NeoPhotonics, to new innovative start-ups, such as SPANSlogic and Altierre. Industries served by the portfolio companies include telecom, retail, semiconductor, material science, computing, security, and enterprise. In its second fund, the firm plans to continue making investments in companies offering IT solutions that provide a tremendous edge in value and performance to their respective markets.
