Hatch is a co-founder and Managing Director of ATA Ventures. He has co-founded several innovative telecommunications companies in wireless, optical, and wireline telecommunications, such as Wave7 Optics in Georgia, a leader in the fiber-to-the-home systems industry and California-based Resonext (acquired by RF Micro Devices (RFMD), a successful pioneer in the wireless 802.11 “wi fi” chipset sector. Additionally, Hatch was a charter employee of Zoran Corporation (ZRAN), a California based communications IC company. He has also held CEO positions at other venture-backed companies, including Actelis Networks, Bandwidth9, and Arroyo Optics. He currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Synfora, TeleCIS Wireless, Wave7 Optics, Actelis Networks, Agistics, FastScale, Rivulet Communications and Yottamark. He served on the Board of SpansLogic, Inc. until it was acquired by Cisco in April of 2007.

Prior to his activities with privately owned companies, Hatch held executive officer positions within industry leading public companies, including World Access, TCSI Corporation, and Stanford Telecom. While at Stanford Telecom, Hatch led the company’s expansion from pure government contracting to growth-oriented commercial enterprises – which led to successful acquisitions by companies such as Intel (INTC) and Newbridge Networks (acquired by Alcatel (ALA)). With Hatch as Group President at World Access, the Company experienced successful revenue growth from $50M per year to a rate of over $200M within two years.

As a technologist, Hatch’s architectures have led to key patents in direct digital synthesis, programmable logic device, digital filtering, forward error correction, spread spectrum wireless, cable TV, and cellular telephone applications. For his invention in digital modulation for cable TV, he was granted the coveted “reverse path” patent which enabled cost effective bidirectional communication over CATV -- a primary enabler for the cable modem industry. Hatch was also granted an error correction patent that contributed to the introduction of Direct Broadcast Satellite television. In their 20th Anniversary issue, the industry’s leading trade journal, Electronic Engineering Times honored Hatch as one of 15 top engineering managers in the industry.

Hatch has been a recipient of Idaho State University's Professional Achievement Award, where he graduated in 1982 with a B.S. Engineering degree and currently serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Committee.
